Getting started
Sign up, click "Load demo project," and you'll have a working two-scenario LCA in under two minutes. To set up your own study, work through the five steps below.
1. Create your workspace
Sign up with email or Google. We auto-create a personal workspace; you can invite teammates later from Settings.
2. Create a project
A project holds one LCA study (typically a facility plan or capital project). It pins:
- eGRID subregion — drives electricity emission factors
- Reference data version — the bundle of TRACI / IPCC / eGRID factors used, so results stay reproducible when new factor data is published
3. Add scenarios (alternatives)
Each scenario represents one design alternative. Set:
- Design flow (MGD, m³/day, gpm) — used by templates to size everything
- Functional unit — per m³ treated, per capita-year, per kg pollutant removed, etc.
- Service life — used to amortize embodied carbon
- CAPEX + OPEX (optional) — for the lifecycle cost comparison
Mark one as the baseline; others will compare against it.
4. Add inventory from templates
Click Add from template, search or filter (e.g., "MBR" or "activated sludge"), and pick one. The template's drivers come pre-filled with typical values from EPA/AWWA/WEF/WRRF guidance. Adjust as needed, then add.
The template's parametric formulas auto-generate inventory flows: electricity (which gets converted to CO₂/CH₄/N₂O via your eGRID factors), direct biological emissions (N₂O, CH₄), chemicals (with embodied LCI), and embodied construction (amortized over service life).
5. Calculate, view, compare, export
Click Calculate impacts. The LCIA engine multiplies every elementary flow by its TRACI characterization factor and IPCC GWP, aggregates by inventory item and substance, and stores the cached results.
Open Results for KPI tiles + 5 chart types + sensitivity tornado. Open Compare all at the project level for side-by-side alternatives. Hit Export → Excel for a multi-sheet workbook ready to drop into a facility plan report.
